For my capstone project for my M.S. in Visualization, I designed an environment inspired by Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Most assets are from the Unreal Marketplace, but I made a few, such as the modular kit for the buildings. After making the environment, I set up 4 lighting scenarios - Dawn, Noon, Sunset, and Night - to create a day cycle for a short video. I set up camera sequences in the Sequencer and used techniques like depth of field for the final shots. As a part of my project, I lit the scene using three different lighting methods: Baked, Screen Space GI, and Lumen. My original goal for the project was to compare the runtimes and Look of the three methods and use the best one suited for my video for the final shots. I ultimately chose the Lumen method for its vibrancy in lighting. You can see the full video and breakdown of my process on my blog!
